1. Acceptance and eligibility

You must be legally able to enter into these terms. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, a parent or legal guardian must review and accept these terms for you. You must also meet the minimum age and eligibility requirements of Unsplash, Google Play, and any other service you choose to use through Chroma.

2. The Chroma service

Chroma is an independent Android client that lets you browse, search, inspect, download, and apply imagery made available through Unsplash. It may also offer Unsplash account actions, scheduled wallpaper changes, widgets, shortcuts, and paid Chroma+ features.

Chroma is not owned, operated, sponsored, or endorsed by Unsplash. Unsplash, Google Play, RevenueCat, Android, and linked websites are third-party services with separate terms and policies. You are responsible for following those terms when using them.

3. Unsplash accounts

Chroma does not create a separate Chroma account. Optional sign-in is provided through Unsplash OAuth. You are responsible for your Unsplash account, for keeping your device secure, and for all actions taken through your signed-in session.

You must provide accurate information to Unsplash, use only an account you are authorized to use, and promptly sign out or secure your account if you suspect unauthorized access. Account availability, suspension, deletion, and recovery are controlled by Unsplash.

4. Photos, metadata, and third-party content

Photos, profile information, metadata, links, and other content shown in Chroma are provided by Unsplash users or other third parties. Chroma does not own that content and cannot guarantee that it is accurate, available, appropriate, or free of third-party rights.

Your use of Unsplash content is governed by the Unsplash Terms & Conditions, the Unsplash License, and any additional rights that may apply. The Unsplash License does not replace permissions that may be required for identifiable people, private property, trademarks, artworks, or other protected subject matter. You are responsible for determining whether your intended use needs additional permission.

Attribution and links shown in Chroma must not be removed or obscured in a way that violates Unsplash’s rules. Chroma reports download and comparable wallpaper events to Unsplash as required by its API terms.

5. Downloads, wallpapers, and device changes

When you download a photo or apply a wallpaper, you direct Chroma to save or modify content on your device. Review the selected image, crop, screen target, schedule, network constraints, and notification settings before confirming.

Scheduled wallpaper features can use network access and battery in the background and may change your home screen, lock screen, or both. Device manufacturers and Android versions can handle crops, lock-screen support, background work, and backups differently. Chroma cannot guarantee an exact crop, uninterrupted schedule, or recovery of a previous wallpaper. Keep copies of anything you want to preserve.

6. Chroma+ purchases and subscriptions

Chroma may offer weekly and annual auto-renewing subscriptions and a one-time lifetime purchase through Google Play. Eligible new customers may receive a three-day trial on the weekly plan; the annual plan has no trial. Available plans, billing periods, trial eligibility, taxes, and the exact localized price are displayed before purchase and form part of your order.

• Auto-renewal: a subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel through Google Play before renewal takes effect.
• Billing: Google Play charges your selected payment method. Chroma does not collect payment-card details.
• Management: you can manage or cancel a subscription in Google Play. Uninstalling Chroma does not cancel a subscription.
• Access after cancellation: paid access normally continues until the end of the already-paid billing period, unless Google Play states otherwise.
• Lifetime: a lifetime purchase means access for the supported lifetime of Chroma, not the lifetime of a person, device, platform, or third-party service.
• Refunds: purchases, cancellations, refunds, and payment disputes are handled under Google Play’s applicable terms and refund policies, except where law requires otherwise.
• Restoration: Chroma uses Google Play and RevenueCat records to verify and restore entitlements. Restoration may require the same Google account and an active connection.

Features included in Chroma+ may evolve. A material reduction will not override any non-waivable rights you have under applicable consumer law.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use Chroma or content for unlawful, infringing, deceptive, abusive, or harmful activity;
• bypass access controls, paid feature checks, API limits, security measures, or attribution requirements;
• interfere with Chroma, Unsplash, Google Play, RevenueCat, or another user’s device or account;
• extract, scrape, automate, or redistribute content in a way that violates applicable law or third-party terms;
• misrepresent ownership, authorship, sponsorship, or endorsement of photos or the app;
• use another person’s account, token, purchase, or credentials without authorization.

8. Ownership and app license

Subject to these terms, you receive a limited, personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use Chroma on compatible Android devices you control for lawful purposes. This license does not transfer ownership of Chroma, its branding, design, or code.

Third-party and open-source components remain subject to their respective licenses. Unsplash content remains owned by its photographers or other rights holders. Nothing in these terms grants rights beyond those expressly provided by the applicable owner or license.

9. Changes, updates, and availability

Chroma may add, change, suspend, or discontinue features to improve the app, respond to security or legal needs, or adapt to Android and third-party APIs. Updates may be required for continued use. Unsplash, Google Play, RevenueCat, Android, network providers, or device manufacturers may change or discontinue functionality outside Chroma’s control.

Access may be limited or ended if you materially violate these terms, create risk or legal exposure, or misuse the service. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination—including ownership, disclaimers, and liability limits—will continue to apply.

10. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Chroma is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of uninterrupted operation, error-free results, fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, non-infringement, content accuracy, or continued third-party availability. Use of downloads, wallpapers, background work, external links, and third-party content is at your discretion and risk.

Nothing in these terms excludes warranties or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded, including mandatory consumer guarantees that apply where you live.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Chroma developer will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive losses; loss of data, revenue, goodwill, opportunity, or device configuration; unauthorized account use; or failures caused by third-party content, services, networks, or devices.

Where liability cannot be excluded, it will be limited to the greater of the amount you paid for Chroma during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim or the minimum amount required by applicable law. This section does not limit liability that cannot legally be limited.

12. General terms, changes, and contact

Applicable law governs these terms without depriving you of mandatory protections available in your place of residence. Before starting formal proceedings, you and the developer should make a reasonable effort to resolve a dispute informally, unless the law permits you to proceed directly.

If one provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect. A delay in enforcement is not a waiver. You may not transfer your rights under these terms without consent; the developer may transfer these terms as part of a reorganization or transfer of Chroma, subject to applicable law.

These terms may be updated as Chroma changes. The effective date at the top will identify the latest version. If a change is material, notice may also be provided in the app or release notes. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated terms to the extent permitted by law.
